USCG STATION WEST QUODDY HEAD LUBEC

Lubec
can be reached by car in 4-5 hours from Portland, Maine. From Portland
to Bangor is 2hours. There are 2 alternative routes from Bangor.
Both the Coastal and Inland Route leave I-95 at Exit 45 [Mile 184?] to
I 395 end at Exit 6A, Alternate Rt.1. |

The
Coastal Route follows Exit 6A Alternate Rt.1 to Ellsworth to Turn due
East on Coastal Rt1 which changes at Milbridge to Alternate Rt1 to
Machias.
Please note, with the exception of Ellsworth, there are no dining
options after 8 PM |

The
Inland Route [used by locals] follows Exit 6A Rt.1 for a few miles to
turn left on SR 46 at East Holden. Follow 46 about 5 miles to East
Eddington to turn right onto Rt 9 [“The Airline”. Go 55 miles to Wesley,
turn right onto SR 192 going 20 miles to Machias. Please note, with the
exception of Ellsworth,
there are no dining options after 8 PM. |

From Machias,
go about 15 miles on RT 1 North turning right onto SR 189 at Whiting.
Follow the Brown signs to Quoddy Head State Park 11miles +/-
to South Lubec Road with a colorful Lighthouse sign on corner at old
store. Proceed [3 +/-] on South Lubec to left fork having a 2nd
Quoddy Head State Park sign.
Go 1 1/4 miles to Quoddy Head Station on left with asphalt driveway in
middle of fence and sign. Quoddy Head State Park , with its World
Famous, Easternmost, Lighthouse,
is 3/4 of a mile further, “The End of the Earth” |
