It's Bill, 1/19/25: January Guests

Welcoming Winter Guests

Reservations are steady at a fine winter pace, with full weekends and some weekday guests. The guests arrive from all over. About half are Mainers, while the other half are hardy travelers. They usually arrive in SUVs or trucks, well-prepared for winter weather. Knowing we have kitchens, they bring their own groceries and add to their supplies from our local IGA.

Winter guests are focused; they do not sit around but are out and on their mission. Friendly and outgoing, our guests are always interesting to talk with and add to the West Quoddy Station experience.

A Special Note from a Guest

Last week, I had a guest from Arkansas who left a handwritten note for us while on his way to Canada, stopping here for three nights:

Hey, Thanks for letting me stay. The place is absolutely beautiful! I hope to come back when the weather is warmer and have suggested the place to friends and family. I like to look for nice wishing stones, and when I found out I couldn’t bring them to Canada, I decided to mail some home but realized I had way too many. I noticed the other stones around the cottage, so I left some of my wishing stones to decorate the place with. I cleaned them off with a little dish soap & peroxide, and they are all from around this area. Hopefully, it’s ok if I leave them. Thank you again for everything, All the best, T-- J----

The Beauty of Winter Connections

One of the truly wonderful things about winter is the time and opportunity to meet our winter guests. A fun way to meet guests is to stop and chat with them when they are with their dogs and sleepy cats. The slower pace is good for the soul.
